Norma French
August 14, 1931 - October 8, 2016Norma Wilson French had a sparkle in her eyes and smile that all who knew her adored. She was a native of Galveston Texas and born on August 14, 1931, to Charles and Rosalie Wilson and loving sister to Dr. Charles Wilson, Jr. She graduated from Ball High School and then attended The University of Texas in Austin, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and received a degree in Elementary Education. Norma was a schoolteacher by profession, but her life calling was that of a Homemaker and wife.
After college, Norma dedicated her life to her husband R.L and her children Steve, Laurie Carter (Paul) of Dallas, Mike (Marty) of Dallas, and Ellen House (Michael) of Indianapolis
Norma was a faithful supporter of her family and enjoyed traveling the world with R.L entertaining, reading, gardening, following UT sports and attending her bible studies. She found great joy in spending time with her grandchildren Hunter Carter (Melissa), Beau Carter (Kristin), Russell, Renee and Randon French and Davis, Margaret and Clayton House, all knew her as Nor Nor.
Norma loved her church family at Stonebriar Community Church and lived a life filled with the Holy Spirit. She made it a priority to teach others about the gospel, not only with words but also with her actions. Her grace, mercy and trusting love extended to family, friends and was cherished by all. Her untimely death at the hands of a stranger is a tragic reminder for all to be wary and vigilant in protecting our loved ones. The world lost a bright light and loving warmth the day she went to be with our Lord and Savior.
Norma passed away on October 8, 2016. She was 85 years young. On April 18, 2019, Norma French’s Death Certificate was amended to “Homicidal violence including smothering”.
